@ ravensong - I think that's a great looking piece. I love the concept behind it, it has a great atmosphere.
@Tzu, that looks perfect.

Whooo, that looks super fantastic Tzu! Can't wait to see the final picture!
Also, ravensong, don't ever try to tell us your drawings suck... we're on to you.
Well, there is hope for me yet! In a single hour, I managed to lay down fully-shaded color for all the skin and hair and most of the fabrics on Gui's dress. Plus, I remembered that we cancelled my piano lesson tomorrow and I will be home alone most of the day, so if I can get my homework done quickly I can rush through dinner and work for several hours. Heck, I may be able to get started on Zamochit's contest picture or even *gasp* actually play Guild Wars.

Art comes in all flavors. There are indeed great artworks here, but your pieces are also cool ravensong and Narcissia.
And for the people on this thread that gets nothing from the 20 Anet prizes, there's always an unded mini Destroyer .
Good luck everyone! (definitely not in the competition for me this year again :/ )

Narcissia, suggestion: maybe print pictures of Mad King Thorn and stick him somewhere, maybe even Mad King henchmen. Just a thought for you.

it would look a bit odd though wouldn't it?
a candy apple would be bigger than mad king and his guard.
maybe if it was zoomed out and had him standing beside, but id like the stuff i made to be bigger and easily visible. i think a huge mad king standing beside would kind of take away from it. if you know what i mean.
ty for the idea though

That's really cool Narcissia! It looks incredibly real too O.o
Got me hungry... D8
I wish I could take pictures of the costume outdoors, but it's friggin' freezing out there, and I don't want to catch something before I go on holiday.. :/
I do have some seriously epic enviroment around me though, so maybe some warm (lol 16 degrees celcius max) summer day I'll climb one of the nearby mountains with a costume. XD
So yeah... black backdrop in the living room for me :/ Hope it looks alright.
Pictures will be up in about 6-7 hours, hopefully.

Tzu, take your pics inside with black backdrop, bundle up and take some epic environment pics and shop them together. :-) Just watch for lighting angles.

Wow, Narcissia, those look perfect. And super yummy. Just remember not to eat the apples... uberred apples are never healthy (remembers Snow White...).
And if you don't want your candy corns, may I eat them?
Anyway I think it's great as it is, though a photoshop to make the glowyness would be cool as well. I suppose the bags are too thick to just put a tealight or votive inside, na?

@Narcissia, realy cool ! and it did get me that pavlov-reaction, hungry for a snack now :P ... only thing i sorta missed in the picture were some spooky elements (woolen spiderweb, toy bat) and maybe some pumpkins for a full display, but even without those it looks great
Well I finalised my picture and the 'More is Less' worked as putting in some bats and pumpkins filled in the blackish spots and pulled the thing together (atleast in my views) ... packaged and mailed the whole thing, im ready for halloween now
*final entry, as a link because its a large picture >1.3mb*
http://www.dnai.nl/GW/Arghore_AC_Halloween2009.jpg
For all those still going at it, keep your heads up !!
And for those allready finished, all the stuff i seen pretty much rox (this includes some of the WIP pictures for those still going) ... and although Halloween isnt realy a native festivity seeing all this and working on my own piece realy got me into a halloween spirit ...
for the thread starters, i think a similar thread for the wintersday Art Contest could have a similar effect, so im all for it, perhaps even start it around 5nov, so we arty people can start early so we dont end up running on our bare feet come deadline ...

@narcissa: agh, narcissa, I want to come trick and treat at your house :P
@tzu: can't wait to see you in that costume XD
For halloween i decided to do a texmod of my alliance leader guild's gh, but it's not turninh out too well (and i still have no idea of how and if i would able to turn it in for this contest): I found just yesterday that the blue light from the orizon and the sea cannot be changed in any way. Plus the texmod isn't loading the textures which are too far (though perfectly in player's sight ><). I'm not happy about the npcs mummy look either but I have no time nor the will to put more effort in their costumes... perhalphs I'll trasform them all in candy corn Oh, well, here are some screens:

Kick ass, Minami. The smoke effect really added a whole lot more to it from what I last saw. Also like how you blurred the t-o-t bags and candy corn to give a real sense of motion. Overall, really looks like CG work that they'd be using (or should be using) for ingame cut scenes.
Your internet high five is on its way.
